GET THE BOOK I can not describe enough how this book has changed me. Avedon gave the world the portrait where the subject, often powerful and famous-- although that is not the case in his series "In The American West" when he shot unknowns-- is photographed looking straight into the camera without flattering lighting or camera angles before a white background. I'm not a big fan of ghosty mysteries or american girl books but "Ghost Light on Graveyard Shoal" was awesome. The examples are very clear for the most part, though they can be a bit redundant. I know all of the other reviews are glowing, but I was actully disappointed by this book. Very cool book, especially in the fact that my youngest daughter, now just studying the Japanese language.
