This book is the farthest thing from the travel book that I expected. This book is a keeper.. And many railroads have had their histories chronicled, this book focuses on the towns the railroads touched. The people included in In the American West series-- drifters, waitresses, coal miners, truckers-- are every bit as engaging as those of the rich and famous and are now just as immortal.. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to learn about microwaves in a hurry. I purchased both books from Amazon and enjoy each one for different reasons. Many of Avedon's most famous photographs are included although there were some that I had never seen before and some I missed seeing. Thought-provoking..
