The author recreated a world I was very familiar with and then changed some key elements and rather than annoy me, I was quickly captivated and could not put the book down. My companion review can be found for 'CFA Voysey: Architect, Designer, Individualist' by Anne Stuart O'Donnell. Computers are wonderful things but I don't think they should take the place of writing something new. And many railroads have had their histories chronicled, this book focuses on the towns the railroads touched. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to learn about microwaves in a hurry. Gary Powers was but one of the public relations difficulties for the American government. Well, that would be an attraction for a 12-year old boy already fascinated by history and the sea (although, specifically, naval warfare). (For example, I would have included the magnificent shot of Tina Turner that usually fills a museum wall when it is exhibited.)
